Queen's day 2009...

Koninginnedag 2009, het begon zo zonnig op een terras met een kopje koffie en een oranje tompouce en gezellig slenteren over de vrijmarkt. Dat deze dag zo’n dramatische wending zou krijgen had niemand kunnen vermoeden. Zo afschuwelijk dat dit ongedwongen, traditionele en oergezellige volksfeest zo eindigde….

Queen’s day in Holland 2009, it started so sunny on a terrace with a cup of coffee and an orange cake and after that walking around the flee-market looking for bargains. That this day would turn into such a dramatic one nobody could imagine. So awful that this wonderful traditional National feast ended this way…

Through the web I give these beautiful branches of the lilac tree to all the victims and relatives of the disaster on Queen’s day.

Ondanks alle ellende heb ik toch nog een paar dingen gekocht op de vrijmarkt; een dienblad en een handdoekenrekje.....

Despite of the misery I bought a few things on the flee market; a serving tray and a towel rack….

En omdat het meivakantie is heb ik genoeg tijd om ze gelijk onder handen te nemen… met dit als eindresultaat. Voor het dienblad heb ik nog een overgebleven stukje rozenstof gebruikt als onderlegger.

And because I have almost two weeks off I had time to paint them right away…with this result. For the serving tray I used a piece of fabric that was left over of the covers for my chairs.

En het handdoekenrekje, ik had op dezelfde plek al een soortgelijk rekje hangen, maar de nieuwe versie is wat steviger en iets groter, daarom maar even omgeruild!

And the towel rack, I had a similar one hanging on the same spot, but this one is more solid and larger, so I switched them.

Verder heb ik vorige week nog dit buikkastje bij de “Second Hand Shop” op de kop getikt. Mijn dochter kan nog wel wat extra kastruimte gebruiken, daarom deze keer geen witte metamorfose maar een roze. En het leuke is dat ze hem zelf heeft geverfd!

Furthermore I bought this little cupboard at the "Second Hand Shop". My daughter could use some extra cupboard space in her bedroom, so no white transformation this time but a pink one. And she painted it herself!

Hij staat nu te drogen, ze wil het beslag nog zilverkleurig verven en het eindresultaat laat ik jullie in een volgende post zien!

It is drying now, she wants to paint the grips in silver and I will show the final result in the next post!
